AI Journeys Settings includes the following: which subscribers and products are eligible for AI Journeys messaging, whether sitewide sale information is included, and the shipping and return policy text AI Journeys uses.
What is it?
AI Journeys Settings is a dedicated tab within AI Journeys where you can:
- Exclusions — keep specific subscriber segments or product feeds from receiving or appearing in AI Journeys messages.
- Sitewide sales — include sitewide sale information in AI Journeys messages to keep them relevant during promotions.
- Shipping and returns — set the shipping and return policy text AI Journeys references when it generates messages, so AI-written copy matches your actual policies.
How do I use it?
Access AI Journeys
Head to Journeys > AI Journeys using the left navigation panel to navigate to performance, messages, and settings.
Exclusions
- Go to AI Journeys.
- Click Settings > Exclusions
Segments
- Under Segments, click the Excluded segments dropdown and select one or more segments to exclude.
- Don't have the right segment yet? Click + Create a new segment to build one without leaving the page.
- Click Save settings.
Excluded subscribers don't stop hearing from you entirely — they're shifted to your control group's default messaging instead of AI Journeys messaging.
- If your excluded segments add up to more than 25% of your subscriber list, AI Journeys shows a warning that it will hinder performance.
- This also applies to the use of multiple segments — the cumulative subscriber count cannot exceed 25% of your total audience.
- It is not recommended to exclude high intent subscriber groups
- You can exclude up to 3 segments at a time.
Products
A product feed is a saved group of products (for example, everything tagged “Gift Card”). You can use product feeds in AI Journeys to define which products to exclude.
- Under Products, click the Excluded product feeds dropdown and select one or more product feeds to exclude.
- Don't have a product feed for this yet? Click + Create a new product feed, or see Set up product feeds for more fine-tuned recommendations.
- Click Save settings.
If an AI Journeys message would otherwise feature an excluded product, that message is suppressed rather than sent with a substitute product. This requires an active product catalog with product feeds enabled. You can exclude up to 3 product feeds at a time. If your account doesn’t have a product catalog enabled, this section will prompt you to reach out to your CSM to enable product feeds.
Sitewide sales
Sitewide sales lets AI Journeys reference your active sitewide sale information in its messages to keep them relevant during promotions.
- Go to AI Journeys.
- Click Settings > Sitewide sales.
- Click Add sale.
- More details on Sitewide sales can be found here!
Shipping and returns
- Go to AI Journeys.
- Click Settings > Shipping and returns.
- Enter your policy text in the Shipping information field (e.g., "Free shipping on orders $75+").
- Enter your policy text in the Return information field (e.g., "Free returns for 100 days with 100-day guarantee").
- Click Save settings.
If you leave these fields blank, AI Journeys won't include shipping or return details in its messages.
Why should I use it?
AI Journeys Settings lets you fine-tune who and what your AI Journeys program touches without engineering support. Excluding segments helps you meet compliance or internal testing needs. Excluding product feeds helps keep AI Journeys from promoting items that are out of stock, not yet available, or otherwise a poor fit. Adding sitewide sale information helps keep messages aligned with the promotion you’re running. Customizing shipping and return information helps keep AI-generated messages consistent with your real policies instead of relying on generic assumptions.
